Scripture:

Acts 17:11 ESV Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with eagerness, examining the scripture daily to see if these things were so.

Observation: Interesting phraseology. More noble. Other translations read fair- minded but its meaning conveys a higher standard; something to be honored and admired.

From the Lord’s perspective He was impressed with this group of Jews at Berea because…they were receptive to Gods word.  But not only were they highly receptive, they were diligent to examine the scriptures to verify what Paul was preaching. The bible calls that noble.

Application: Regardless of our place or station in life we can operate in biblical nobility.

Receiving Gods word with eagerness is a willingness to hear what God has to say. And searching the scriptures on a regular basis to verify what is being said.

When we teach and share with people our message should be backed up with scripture. That solidifies the message in our heart and can eliminate a great deal of error.

There is nothing wrong with asking for a scriptural basis for a message or principle. In fact its more than that its noble.

Prayer: Dear Father, Teach me to walk in this type of nobility. A nobility that values You and Your message to us and is willing to search the scriptures to establish the truth. May it be said of us: now these believers are noble because they are eager to receive Gods word and search the scriptures daily to verify the truth.
